Ok, so technically this isn’t a ‘finished piece’ portfolio item but as I think that a colour guide tile can be beautiful in its own way I reckon it deserves a place here. Not only is creating it a therapeutic endeavour, but it’s also a time stamp of my current paint palette. It somehow feels akin to needlework samplers which, although a basic test of knowledge and skill done in nurseries and with governesses the world over, still somehow seem to have their own very personable sense of the beautiful. The picture (above) is pre-firing so let’s see how all these tones emerge from the kiln…
